The Yoga Roots Bakersfield
One of the great things about owning a business in Bakersfield is the opportunity to take a personal passion and turn it into a profitable business. Our local morale inspires entrepreneurship and encourages people to take the leap and open the business they’ve always wanted. We love supporting locally-owned companies, especially those that will take a well-known idea and apply their own flair and panache.
Be in Bakersfield is happy to support fellow Bakersfield native, Shannon Quigley, as she begins her journey with The Yoga roots bakersfield.
Here is her story…
My name is Shannon Quigley, maiden name is Shannon Collier. I was born and raised in Bakersfield and moved out to the Antelope Valley about 7 years ago with my husband Kyle, for his job!
When the opportunity came up to open The Yoga Roots Bakersfield I was stoked to jump on it! I was excited for the opportunity to come back to my roots. I love meeting each and every one of you, and being able to create, move, breathe and sweat together in the town I grew up in.
I always knew I wanted to open a studio in Bakersfield, especially because my family also owns a business here, Color Connection Pittsburgh Paints. So for me, this feels like coming back “home”. Full circle.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself and how The Yoga Roots was born.
After high school (go Centennial Hawks!), I went to college to become an architect. After graduating, I worked for a few different firms over the years. During that time I started practicing yoga. I loved it. I went to a yoga teacher training and got my 200 hour certification to teach in 2008. Soon after, I started teaching yoga in Bakersfield!
Fast forward to 2011, my husband and I moved to Antelope Valley for his job. Hours of training with the Baptiste Institute, tons of certifications and thousands of classes later, I was excited to bring yoga to Lancaster and teach everywhere I possibly could. Come to find out, there were absolutely no yoga studios in Lancaster. So Kyle built out our garage and made the cutest little studio. I opened our garage studio to the public and taught 8-10 classes a week. I could fit 13 people--smashed.
As we got busier, we decided to open a yoga studio on the boulevard in downtown Lancaster in 2013. From me personally teaching 30 classes a week to now there have been 10 teachers and lots of love, sweat and happy tears. We just relocated to a larger studio right down the street from our old space. We were excited to open that space last June.
The Yoga Roots is a Baptiste Affiliate Studio. What does that mean? That means you are guaranteed to step into a community, meet new friends and experience powerful, sweaty, fun classes that will allow you to explore and expand what’s possible.
Come as you are, do what you can and get ready to have fun!
Our mission here is simple: to create community, empower each other and to raise the bar on and off the mat.
I am excited to meet you, sweat with you and create a powerful community together!
Come hang out with us!
Lots and lots of love,
Shannon, Kyle and Carter Quigley
